BACK BEACH WHITE ALE
Synonymous with the highly revered coastline of our area and indeed our entire country, the back beach is that hidden secret spot we all love to visit. It's all about relaxation and enjoyment - much like our refreshingly unique white ale.
This light and crisp wheat beer is driven by Belgian yeast, offering hints of spice and wheat phenolics and has just the perfect hint of tartness and balanced malty sweetness. Its clean and thick foamy head makes it the perfect thirst quencher that will see you doubling down for another tall glass.
VILLAGER'S PALE ALE
From Byron, to Bangalow and beyond, the lush hinterland is made up of a series of small villages, each with their own unique offerings. Our Villager’s Pale is made by the locals, for the locals and visitors alike.
An approachable session beer, our Pale is the perfect balance of new world hops, supported by a pleasing maltiness with a presence of citrus, resinous pine notes and just a slight hint of aniseed. This is a beer that you’ll always return to for its perfect combination of aromatics, smooth bitterness and satisfying malts.
BRONZE MEDAL WINNER: AIBAs 2023
Located an hour’s drive from the brewery, the stunning Protesters Falls are so named as a group of locals lobbied in 1979 against a large area of state forest being logged. The protest is regarded as a watershed moment in Australia's environmental movement and cited as the first time people physically defended a natural resource. The area is now part of the World Heritage listed Nightcap National Park and will be preserved for future generations to appreciate.
Our IPA pays homage to this landmark movement by packing its own punch, with an intense hop profile of zesty fruits and tropical notes. This aromatically driven beer is balanced out by a strong bitterness and a subtle malty finish that allows the combination of the new world hops to display their full character.

HELLES HOLE LAGER
This is our take on the traditional German Helles lager, with “Helles” meaning bright or light in colour. The play on words pays a cheeky nod to a hidden and treacherous local swimming spot in the nearby hills, yet another natural wonder in their neck of the woods. The use of light pilsner malts fermented for an extended time produces a clean lager with a soft finish which is carried through by a robust bitterness.
Traditional German hops provide subtle notes of spice, and finishing at 4.5% in alcohol, the well-balanced Helles Hole has pleased all the lager enthusiasts out there.

EL SABRO HAZY IPA
Our Australian International Beer Awards GOLD MEDAL WINNING mouth-watering El Sabro Hazy IPA is back, and now it's part of our core range, so you can enjoy the taste of Summer all year round!
Taking over tastebuds once again, El Sabro has a decidedly intense aroma of coconut and fresh pineapple, with a burst of tropical flavours.
Its vibrant colour and shiny opaque appearance makes it look as juicy as it tastes with a super smooth finish derived from the protein haze. El Sabro has a gentle bitterness but packs a huge fruit punch.
MOONLESS MIDNIGHT STOUT
New to the core range is our the Moonless Midnight Stout. “Dark as a Moonless Midnight”, this sweet stout exhibits notes of coffee, cacao and hints of tobacco. A full bodied sweetness to finish is balanced with roasted malts and smooth bitterness. It’s like a nice hug in a glass.
This delicious winter warmer is now also part of our core range, available for your tastebuds every day!
Contains lactose (and hugs).
In addition to our core range, we produce a bunch of limited edition special batch brews that will be on rotation in our taproom. There'll always be something new to try at Common People! Here's what's pouring in our brewery taproom at the moment.
SPICY BOI CHILLI MARGARITA CERVEZA
spice up your life with Spicy Boi - our hottest creation yet. This cerveza is brewed with malted corn which provides a subtle sweetness and we’ve added all the ingredients of a refreshing margarita. We’re talking zesty limes, salt and hints of agave. But with a Common People twist, we're bringing the heat all the way to your bones with the addition of some fresh Habanero chillies.
WRECK OF THE BAY DIPA
For over 100 years it has been sitting behind the breakers, just north of Byron Bay's Main Beach. Mostly submerged, with some parts rising above the surface, The Wreck is an unmistakable icon, sculpting the coastal landscape. To some it's a surf break, to others a snorkelling site, a place to hone your diving skills, or a swimming adventure. The Wreck is a BIG part of Byron Bay and we've created a BIG beer in its honour. This style originated on the West Coast of the USA and is a favourite of the craft beer industry. Made with a mixture of grains, including seldom seen quinoa, Wreck of The Bay has been infused with African pepper “Grains of Paradise”, giving a floral and spicy finish to this beer. Triple dry-hopped offering a huge nose and pallet of citrus and ripened tropical fruits. A complex creation balanced to perfection.

STRADDLE IT TASMAN PILSNER
Based on a traditional Czech pilsner with not so traditional additions of new world hops from both sides of the Tasman.
In the Aussie corner it's Australia's greatest contribution to beer... Galaxy hops, showcasing citrus, peach and passionfruit. In the New Zealand corner it's Nelson Sauvin hops with its distinctive white wine and black current notes.
This fruity pilsner is decidedly smashable!
RAIL TRAIL HAZY PALE
This latest creation is an approachable session hazy. Light on the alc so that you can jump back on the bike and hit the trail... when the rail trail comes to fruition, that is!
Hop varieties of Azzacca and Galaxy give a pleasant mix of tropical fruits mixed with citrus. On the palate, it’s particularly spicy with mango, passionfruit, pineapple and some pine, with tangerine-esque qualities evident.
Finished with a dose of lactose to give a silky smooth balance between sweetness, fruit and bitterness.
LA BISE RASPBERRY ROSÉ SOUR
"La Bise” - the lovely French greeting of a sweet, gentle brush of both cheeks. Translating to “the kiss”, it’s the perfect name to describe Common People's newest creation, our Raspberry Rosé Sour.
Inspired by a French rosé, La Bise exhibits fresh raspberries on the nose and notes of strawberries and cream on the back of the palate. It’s a kettle sour with baskets of fresh ripe raspberries thrown in the ferment from our friends at Blueberry Fields in Brooklet.
Light on the sourness so the fresh berries shine through, it’s perfect for cleansing the palate after rich foods and for quenching the thirst on these warm summer days.
MALT 'N' LAVA RED IPA
The deep red copper indicates a big malty backbone showcasing eight (yes eight!) different malts! Flavours of dark caramel, toffee and raisin are evident, combined with a big hop profile, notes of grapefruit and dare we say it... cannabis! This beer finishes with a robust bitterness, is well balanced and full of flavour. Hold this one up to the light of the fire and drink it in!
RYE HERE, RYE NOW GOLDEN ALE
Our latest offering is a Fresh Hop Rye Golden Ale. This beer has been hopped the entire length with fresh hops cones or hop flowers. The hop cones can only be sourced fresh once a year and an absolute truckload has been added to this beer offering aromatic pine, citrus and floral notes.
The malty backbone of this beer is a Vampire Rye grain that imparts a spicy, bready and peppery flavour. The Rye also offers a notable creamier body and mouthfeel. A unique and complex beer that is a perfect winter drop.
ANKLE BITER CALIFORNIA COMMON
Paying homage to founders’ eight kids who have clocked some serious hours at the brewery while their parents worked furiously to open the doors, the Ankle Biter is also a tribute to our fearless GM who suffered a nasty burn on his leg when brewing this beer. This full body California Common (Steam Ale) is brewed with lager yeast and fermented at ale temperatures.
The result offers the formation of a big ester profile. Late hopping of Amarillo produces citrusy orange and grapefruit notes on the nose and palate. Big on the residual malt and bitterness you would be forgiven for thinking this is a full strength beer but at an ABV of 3.5%, you can head back to the bar for another.

BIT FRESH! COLD IPA
A Cold IPA? What is a cold IPA exactly?
A cold IPA is a dry, crisp, clean IPA that hearkens back to the type of IPAs that were fully hop-forward. In other words, our Bit Fresh! Cold IPA showcases both the bittering potential of hops as well as their flavourful oils against a simple grist backdrop of barley and malted corn.
The clean backdrop is achieved by using a lager yeast in place of an ale strain. Although it is fermented warmer than your usual lager, it is fermented colder than a normal ale, hence the name - cold IPA.
The ripened fruit and citrus characteristics from the Ekuanot, Eclipse and Citra hops shine through and finish with a robust bitterness and a crisp and refreshing mouthfeel. All of this keeps things as fresh as a cool Winter’s morning on a hot Summer’s day.
Bit Fresh! They say…
